The Conference of the Parties (COP) takes place every year and is the world’s only multilateral decision-making forum on climate change with almost complete membership of every country in the world.

ARISE United Arab Emirates (UAE) in collaboration with UNDRR organised an event during the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This event took place at the Pavilion of the United Republic of Tanzania during COP28 UAE, bringing together thought leaders and experts to explore crucial aspects of sustainability.

The event focused on the critical theme, "Resilience in an era of uncertainty: partnership for a more sustainable world." The keynote address by Dr. Sujit Mohanty, Chief of Branch-Intergovernmental Processes, Interagency Coordination, and Partnerships, UNDRR and panel discussion, titled "Navigating Global Challenges through Collaboration and Partnerships," was held. The event, attended by 70 individuals from diverse sectors, concluded with a celebratory networking dinner, fostering further collaboration among participants.

ARISE UAE and CEO Clubs’ Sustainability Committee played a pivotal role in driving the COP28 Sustainability Dialogue. The discussion focused on sustainable agriculture, food security, and emerging sustainability trends' impact on small businesses. The panel discussion concluded with a call to action, urging collaborative efforts to drive sustainability initiatives that positively impact both businesses and communities.

A key takeaway highlighted the private sector's role in enhancing city resilience and how the real estate resilience tools can link to legislation. Dr Mustafa Sassa, Chairman of Raj Group of Companies emphasized that focusing on agriculture can lead to employment sector growth, enhance supply chain and logistics industries, and contribute to the overall economic scope of Tanzania. The event concluded with a call for ongoing climate action and collaboration for a sustainable future across private, public and civil society sectors.

ARISE Egypt continued its global participation by joining the Dubai COP 28 event alongside Nile University and the GMA. During this event, the Multistakeholder Weather AI Prediction solution was presented, in cooperation with the UNDRR Regional Office. The SRSG Mami Mizutori, Head of UNDRR, as well as the Head of the World Meteorological Organization, attended and gave opening remarks to the event.

Other ARISE members also attended COP 28 events, including David Greenall representing KPMG, Camila Tapias from SPIN Global, Lorenzo Marchetti from Everbridge. They all contributed to making the private sector voice be heard at this important event.
