ARISE Japan successfully hosted its seventh annual public symposium, titled “Increasing resilience to disasters by strengthening SMEs as a community: learnings from the travel and tourism sector,” on 14 March 2022.

The VIII Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean was held in Punta del Este, Uruguay from February 28 to March 2, 2023.

Organized by ARISE Philippines, SMPHI, NRC, and its partner agencies, the Top Leaders Forum centered around the theme of “Transforming Victims to Victors: A Multi-Sectoral Approach to Inclusive Resilience”.

The ARISE Network hosted an interactive live panel on November 11th. The focus of the panel was on “Supporting Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Practices in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises”.

2021 was a year of accelerated collaboration between the ARISE Network and the UNDP-OCHA Connecting Business Initiative (CBi), a partnership which leverages the

UNDRR has launched a key report aimed at supporting small- and medium-sized businesses to reduce disaster risk and increase resilience.

The private sector has an important role to play and we call on all businesses to support the response and recovery efforts, in any way they can. One way is to support some of the coordinated efforts of the United Nations.

In a significant stride towards promoting women's leadership in disaster risk reduction (DRR), the Women International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction Philippines Chapter (WINDRR PH) was officially launched on April 26, 2023.

ARISE Japan hosted its fifth annual public symposium on IDDRR on 13 October 2020 as an online event. The symposium attracted tourism industry businesses, and hosted a stimulating online discussion among a mix of tourism and DRR related companies.

ARISE Japan and ARISE Philippines successfully hosted their inaugural Knowledge Sharing Session on 13 December 2021, focusing building the resilience of SMEs.
